these three should be ready to go and on the site by friday.

my camera decided to stop working today, so i may not be able to show you what the pvmntsw disc looks like unsassembled, how the bones of seabirds packaging unfolds to reveal an amazing piece of art by matthew yacoub, or that the fracture dvd has this cool image etched into the top surface of the disc.  you’ll have to trust me.  these three fucking rule.

among the three releases that should be ready for friday is the first moving image offering on small doses.

it’s an incredible atmospheric horror film by kyle willey.  it’s remarkably scored by his band Robe.

Mystified: Skywatchers review on the Ampersand Etcetera blog
Posted on October 15th, 2008 at 5:16 am by joe

Take a look

Mystified – Skywatchers

Mystified again – this one from a label called small-doses which does some very nice packaging (here the disk forms an integral part of the heavens, and the torn card creates a horizon. Mystified describes this as a ‘concept album of sorts’, without explanation – and being Mystified this could be musical or concept – his recent collaboration with Saluki Regicide was split so that ‘one is assigned all frequencies below 1kHz, and the other gets everything above’ – and the outcomes were later mixed together. And it works! It’s a Webbed Hands download.

Skywatchers is some beautiful minimal ambiences – the tracks seem to offer a balance between two levels – the higher ringing buzzing washing hissing shimmering elements and deeper pulsing throbbing rumbling multifaceted components underneath. As in the beautiful evolving high ringing tone in Dark shimmer with a multifaceted rumbling undertone, active hissing like rain with big pulsating throbs of Big and round, or Saturated sky’s soft ringing washes and pulse. Hollow resonant tones stutter towards a melody in Tactile waves and overall a minimalism that teeters on the edge between the conscious and unconsciousness, between a focus and an indefinable thereness which slowly evolves and twists just beyond awareness. Lose yourself while watching the sky.

so much in the works right now…
Posted on October 9th, 2008 at 9:40 am by joe

Since getting those new ones out last week, things have not slowed down one bit around here.  Look for a new batch of degenerate discs and the Wince vs Baculum 3″ to hit in the next couple days.  Things are also coming together really well for the next big batch for later in the month.

I’ve got some new material from BBBlood for a 3″.  Bicycle Sighs is working on a 3″.  There’s an Inseminoid master in the mail.  Sparkling Wide Pressure and Century Plants  have a split in the works as well.

I’m also in the brainstorming process of another limited wacky box set idea.  I’m super excited about it, but if it comes together, it won’t even think about seeing the light of day until early next year.   Cross yr fingers though.

Posted on October 4th, 2008 at 10:11 am by joe

take a look at the releases page for samples and images from the mike shiflet, pummeler, and flea apparitions/lame prey releases.  You’ll also get some hints of things to come as well.

these should be available tonight or tomorrow, once i get the shop updated with these releases and another big batch of distro stuff.   sign up for the mailing list for the first notice.

working hard…
Posted on October 3rd, 2008 at 8:19 am by joe

I’ve been busy as hell working on the next batch, and it’s a doozey.  I haven’t been too forthcoming with the details, but with any luck, these should be available on Sunday or Monday.  Here’s what you can expect:

1. Mike Shiflet: Ko 2×3″cdr

2. Flea Apparitions/Lame Prey: split 3″ cdr

3. Pummeler: ydre 3″ cdr

All three are incredible and completely different from one another.  I should have samples and images up later today or tomorrow.

There are still at least two more degenerate batches in the works. I’ve had slightly less access to my preferred crappy copier, thus have not been focused on getting those done.  i hope to get those out there soon.

I’ve got high hopes (and a ton of work ahead) for a batch appropriate for your all hallow’s eve enjoyment.  Three varied, but dark, offering, including another small doses first.  more on those soon…
